Josh reaches the halfway point of his trip and explores the Ghanian culture:

My Slave Castle tour guide, Jacque. He was excellent. Also anyone who has ever been on a tour of anything with me, ESPECIALLY breweries and/or distilleries, knows that I am a NIGHTMARE for a tour guide. I ask millions of questions.

The Dutch kitchen in the castle. They refused to use anything made by the Portuguese upon their takeover of the castle, thus building their own.

This area was referred to as "the point of no return." The ocean has since receded but ships used to be able to dock right up here. Slaves were ushered out of this opening and onto the ships. If they survived the treacherous conditions on board they would be sold to the "new world" in the Americas, Caribbean, or Europe.

The oldest Catholic Church in West Africa rests atop the hill in Elmina and overlooks the harbor and village below. You could say this was my 'Sunday Service.'

The Elmina fishing docks. Fishing is the focal point of the economy in Elmina and Cape Coast. Like most things in life I have now become numb to the smell of dead/rotting fish. However I still will not eat fish.

My tour guide made sure to point out that it is considered sacrilegious to eat sea tortoise in Elmina. Chill the fuck out guy, I wasn't planning on it.

The statue of Nana Kobina Gyan. He was the first ruler of Elmina. The square that this statue resides had no less than six pick-up soccer matches going on.

My Elmina-town tour guide, famous Ghanian Tik Toker, Peter Cobbina. Not gonna lie it was a little frustrating touring the town with him and let me explain why. His shtick on Tik Tok is he says Toototom which in Fante means "Enough is Enough." This is part of his youth movement/initiaive. Great cause...........HAVING SAID that this means every 30 seconds of walking through the town a child would recognize him and yell "Toototom!" and he would proceed to pause the tour and yell back "Toototom! I just wanted a litttttlleee more flow to the tour. Toototom!
